Healdsburg, CA – David Hagele, a Healdsburg small business owner and father of two with his wife Laurie, announced today he is running for Healdsburg City Council. Hagele is a past President of the Active 20-30 Club #50, and is a member of the Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce, Sonoma County Alliance, and Good Morning Healdsburg.

He also is Founder and President of DLH Realty Capital, a small commercial real estate financing firm in Healdsburg with a primary focus on helping small mom-and- pop businesses grow.

Hagele has extensive experience in protecting quality-of-life issues for Sonoma County residents. In 2009 during extreme local budget cuts, Hagele led the effort by the non-profit Active 20-30 Club to partner with police and firefighting organizations to save the annual 4th of July Fireworks Show at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. Active 20-30 continues to operate that show to this day and has become one of the 20-30 Club’s largest fundraisers. On a smaller scale, Hagele has volunteered at Catholic Charities, helped build houses in Mexico, and is quick to offer his DJ skills for charity events.

Here in Healdsburg, as a City Council Member, Hagele wants to continue to develop partnerships that foster closer collaboration between community groups and the city.

“As a father of two young kids just starting their journey through our local schools and a local small business owner, I am deeply vested in the future of our community,” he said. “I believe in putting families first, locals first, and in supporting the small business community that breathes life into our economy and supports our civic pride.”

Hagele added he is committed to making Healdsburg a stronger city for his children and the next generation of Healdsburg residents. To accomplish this goal, he plans to focus efforts on balancing Healdsburg’s small-town character with affordable housing and the increasing cost of living. He also hopes to prioritize the continued revitalization of the southern and northern gateways to town with a focus on priority for our local residents; roads and infrastructure improvements; education and parks; and recreational opportunities for children, seniors and families.

David Hagele earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Pacific Union College, speaks fluent Japanese and finished the 2010 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. He lives in Parkland Farms with his wife, Laurie, a Board Member at Live Oak Preschool. Together they have two young children, Charlotte (5) and Jackson (3). Both children currently attend Live Oak Preschool.
